Dancing with Elves

DAY 1 Depart Heathrow at 10.20 on Finnair scheduled flight(s) (via Helsinki) to Kittila. Arrive 17.40 local time and transfer to Muonio. Check-in at Harriniva Hotel where your thermal clothing will be available in your hotel room before welcome evening drink and programme briefing followed by Sami buffet supper ( time beforehand for snow shoeing and tobogganing). DAY 2 After breakfast it's time to meet Harriniva's very own huskies: over 250 friendly Siberian ones eager to pull our sleighs through the Arctic forest. There are cute baby ones, big ones - all sorts, each with their own name and after your guides demonstrate how to handle a dog sleigh, you take a short sleigh ride through the forest. Stop for a warm berry juice by an open fire and carry on through the forest only this time by snowmobile. Lunch in the hotel restaurant. Afterwards, each family travels individually by sleigh to meet Father Christmas in his home in the woods. Whilst waiting to meet him and make known your wishes, everybody can help make tree decorations and bake gingerbread cookies or have fun outside tandem skiing, snow shoeing, tobogganing or even driving a mini snowmobile. |
Traditional Sami buffet dinner culminating in a visit by Father Christmas who will have a small present for everyone, after which there will be dancing with elves. DAY 3 After breakfast, it is time to meet Rudolph, Dancer, Prancer and their herders in a traditional 'kota'. Everybody will be given reindeer driving lessons and receive their own Reindeer Driving Certificate as well as enjoying a traditional 'Crossing the Arctic Circle' ceremony. Afterwards transfer (lunch box on board) to Kittila airport for Finnair scheduled flight(s) to Heathrow where you arrive at 17.10 local time.
