FATHER CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS TO LAPLAND
(for you, your children and your children’s children)

When we first hit on the idea of taking children to meet the real Father Christmas, we found in Lapland exactly what our young and young at heart travellers wanted - remote villages amongst snow clad forests where traditional Lutheran customs similar to our own are played out on a small scale. But of course the mass-market operators soon came crashing in on the act, as they always do, building snow-dusted plastic replicas of the real thing with discos, and so on.

But we feel once-in-a-lifetime experiences need to be just that - genuine, traditional, intimate, mystical and exciting. So to avoid the masses, we’ve retreated to just four very special, family owned places high above the Arctic Circle: Nellim by Lake Inari where the Lappalainen family have created a home for their guests from the old school house; Maria & Kopi Pitikainen’s Harriniva, home to Lapland’s largest husky breeding kennels; Tovi & Meeri Quist’s unique log cabin village in Yllas and Jussi Eiramo’s Kakslauttanen with its deadwood pine log cabins.

Wherever you choose to stay, you, your children and your children’s children will meet Father Christmas not once but twice, first in his wilderness forest home to make known their wishes and again when he arrives, as if by magic, at your hotel later that evening with presents for everyone.

You’ll drive a snowmobile along a forested trail in the cushioned comfort only a long track machine with backrest can give; mush your husky team in real wilderness - not in circles around a 400m track and meet genuine Sami reindeer herders not local reps in fancy dress! And each trip will be that much longer since they all start either from, or close by, your hotel.

We have departures on the 6th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th of December and over Christmas and New Year. If you’d like to join us, we’d love to have you but please remember: no discothèques, no fruit machines, no reps in uniform and no television. Just a family trip with like-minded people for you to enjoy, and for the children to meet Father Christmas.
